“It’s difficult to remain a big brother”

Speaking at the event, DEFAV Chairman of the Board İlker Meşe said, “We always say it’s easy to become a big brother, but it’s hard to remain one. But we will continue to uphold the understanding of brotherhood to the fullest. We thank everyone who has contributed to the success of our foundation.”

Meşe emphasized that success cannot be stopped when efforts are made, stating that the Dragon Boat Men’s Team from the Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty (YDO), to whom they gifted a dragon boat, achieved second place in the Dragon Boat race, which involved 12 universities.

“We will instill love for the sea”

Meşe stressed the importance of maritime education remaining “residential, as it used to be,” stating that they value donors’ contributions to the development and growth of the dormitory to ensure this to some extent.

Meşe said, “It’s not just about education. We are happy to see that Turkish maritime is growing every day. Our foundation will continue to do its best to ensure that the new generations become seafarers and that society continues to love maritime culture.

The application deadline for dormitory scholarships and financial aid scholarships is November 15, 2024.
